I love your comic! I am coming at this craft from the opposite side (some writing under my belt but new to drawing) and I pretty much practice the same way! One book I want to recommend, if you're thinking about picture books at all, is Anne Whitford Paul's Writing Picture Books. It's a resource I turn to often when writing and revising!

The comic is adorable. I stared at something for a long time, after a long time. :) Would you have any suggestion for someone on the opposite end, someone who is starting a drawing practice to accompany their writing?

Thank you. That is a really broad question, and I’ve written all year about the topic, the most important thing is to make it a daily practice and be patient.

I saw your comment after I wrote mine, haha! It sounds like we're in the same boat! I am trying not to get too distracted by perfection and just draw as much as possible, and step away from my iPad/procreate a bit more (I think it holds me back!). Right now I'm working mostly on characters (proportions, movements, expressions, etc). I take classes on Skillshare and Youtube when I can (and through SCBWI). And some of my critique partners recommended SVSlearn.com which I am hoping to dive in to eventually.
