The Pocket Sketchbooks
Part 2 of 5 of : FIVE ways to fit art into your daily routine
“The best camera is the one you have with you“ - Apple Commercial
We use our phones more as a camera than a phone.
But this wasn’t always the case I remember a time when trying to figure out the best camera was the topic of discussion at art school and on review sites. There was a site called Flickr where you could share your photos, and it will include all the metadata, the settings behind the digital photos.
Then apple came up with a commercial, that said “ the best camera is the one you have with you.
Maybe I made all that up. But that’s how I remember this change of mindset, that best for the job means available.
And while I love the same and touch of so many sketchbooks and art materials, my go to is always a pocket sketchbook.
If you want to fit your art into your daily routine, try stating with something that fits in your pocket.

I love A5 sketchbooks for everyday use. I've tried smaller, but I think they bug me because I don't have the freedom to draw big and I can't rest my hand on them if I'm drawing small. Any bigger than A5 is too heavy to carry around with me. Sorry, that's not very interesting. 😅
I love to use handmade sketchbooks. I enjoy binding them and making them in all sizes. I prefer medium to large sketchbooks for the space to draw. But it would be a good experiment for me to try a pocket sketchbook.
