Adam here! Welcome to the free ✨ weekly edition ✨ of Ten Minute Artist.
I write a page-a-day guide that offers fun prompts, encouragement, and thoughtful perspective for every stage of the creative journey.
If you’re not a subscriber, here’s what you might have missed:
TELL STORIES - This reflection explores the power of storytelling and invites you to write about your own moments of discovery.
TAKE TIME - This piece encourages artists to harness their energy intentionally, exploring creative practices that adapt to fluctuating physical, mental, spiritual, and social/emotional energy, while offering prompts and rituals to sustain and energize the artistic process.
START - We had a deeply personal exercise that cuts to the core of who we are. (Some tears were reported)
Subscribe to get access to these posts, and every post. The subscription is $20 monthly if you want to binge and make some quick connections in the community, or $100 annually if you want to grow with us throughout the year!
How Ten Minutes of creativity seeps into the rest of life
It feels like what we draw or write about seeps into real life.
Almost like live is being created and shaped by the ten minute practice. Yesterday I wrote about calling a friend as a way to raise energy. And a friend actually called and we talked for 45 minutes with is a rarity.
This week we’re talking about making habits, telling stories, and raising energy.
And my daughter (3) decides to take me on a morning walk a habit I’ve been trying to create in her, this of course was a great way to raise my energy at the start of the day and give me a story to tell.
Birds Eye View - A Short Story in Words and Pictures

Collecting stories and visual ideas like this is what the TenMinuteArtist practice is about. It’s shaping our attention in the moments giving clarity to what we really care to notice.
In the long term it’s creating voice, and style.
I watched a short video (30s) yesterday, where an old man who looked like Gandalf, sitting on a stage said; and I’m paraphrasing;
Think about wha you would do if you were the only human left on earth? Once you have it try to think about how you can apply that in your life, make that your style.
This is how Ten Minutes of doing what you would do can shape a life. It starts by shaping your attention. The collection of artefacts you create as a bi product is like an avalanche of creativity that is unstoppable.
Start or begin again, then keep going!
TEN MINUTE ARTIST PROMPT
What would you do if you were the only person left on earth?
Answer that question in writing or drawing, directly or indirectly, in your artist book. Think about how similar or different that version of you is compared to the person you are currently projecting.
If you’re not sure what to draw, draw the two different versions of yourself. Otherwise just sit with the question and see what happens.
⚠️ If you want to get prompts in your inbox box DAILY make sure Page-A-Day Edition is toggled on. In January this is only available to paid subscribers.
Gosh, this is a thought-provoking prompt. Besides having to find my own food and shelter, I'd have a whole world to explore and I guess I'd have to tame a wolf or something for company. It kind of appeals to me, actually.
