I celebrated the New Year, TWICE!
I was on a ship for the first one
And for the second one broke tradition
It felt like it took a month for this year to come around.
What was your January like?
I am deep into 2 book projects that come due in February!
One’s great…
The other is teaching me about my practice
I’m happy to be close to finishing 2 books so early in the year.
I did 2 mentorship calls (and missed one through a scheduling error.)
I enjoyed them and I felt that i might have been helpful.
I do them to be helpful, and pay forward the help I got.
I do them to improve my pattern recognition.
I have to new book jobs that are agreed in principle but nothing is signed yet.
I can’t say anything about either except.
One is another tale of comeuppance, a spiritual sequel to Down the Hole.
And the other one is a dream project involving one of my non-artistic passions.
Through it all I drew for a total of 310 minutes, in 31 ten minute increments.
I haven’t been disciplined about the time and place I make my drawings
And I haven’t been disciplined about where I put my drawings
The new month is an opportunity, to try and put that right.
Overall, I stumbled through!
I now have kind of a feel for 2025.
I think I’m going to start fresh, January was whatever it was, I’m going to start 2025 tomorrow. Maybe you feel a bit like that too, lets start together!
Here’s what you might have missed in January
The first Weekend Challenge.
And remember, if you want to get daily prompts, toggle on ‘page a day guide’, here.
Tomorrow we start again!
Maybe you’re killing it in January, keep at it!
Or like me you’re stumbling through, see you at a new starting line!
TEN MINUTE ARTIST PROMPT
Share something you drew in January!
Sharing your work is part of the process. The work is only actually finished when you share it. The gallery and chat is a safe way to share your work, especially your early drafts and seeds of ideas.
Let’s use it to encourage each other, and complete the process of making something.
Pro tips:
Get good lighting
Edit for clarity and contrast
Write a story full caption
Hi Adam, I’m glad to be back and want to get a daily habit going again. Looking forward to a 90 day challenge!
Hi Adam, What is “pattern recognition?”
