My daughter comes in from school and I down tools. I try to remember to lift the paint brushes out of the water, and turn my computer off, but don’t always manage that 😂

My daughter does not go to school yet so sneak off to the studio in the wee hours of the morning, and appear to come home from work in the evening. The studio is the back room in the apartment :)

I have a dog to walk at the end of the day, and then dinner to cook etc. To be honest though, part of my routine is to do another hour or so of work after dinner while my kid does her homework.

Do you watch each other work? That sounds like fun :)

sometimes we'll work at the kitchen table (but she'll be doing some High School AP homework so I feel like an underachiever - or role reversal 😁 me coloring) It is nice

I have been trying to get this in place. Ideally, I want to create a routine where I do some non-screen related activity. I am a lawyer by profession- so my entire day is all about sitting in front of a screen reading through documents. I feel like a proper break away from that would translate into actual transition from workday to the rest of my day.

May be a special place that you can go to and work cannot follow you?

Recently, my workload had increased and I had taken a day off to avoid imminent burn out. I purposefully went to a park and sat there for a bit- sketched and wrote after ages. It was exactly what I needed. But somehow on a daily basis getting to a different place seems almost impossible. Still, its all about building that into a daily routine.

I think it’s good to journal at the end of each day. Some days we feel we didn’t get much done, but journaling might remind us, yes we got less work done but we managed to do some chore or errand, and that still makes it a good day.

It’s also good to ask, how today could have been better, you’ll be surprised how difficult it is to find fault with ourself. but if you can do it, it’s the seed of what we could do better tomorrow!

I love this idea Leanne, I should get some work clothes even if work is at home!

Great question - I don't have one, and really need to take some positive steps in this direction! Interested to read the thoughts of others on this. 😀
