I am baffled: "But how to get that consistency? [...] I never seem to get further than a week before dropping out."

Aren't you the same Adam Ming that managed to send a DAILY newsletter?! I am following you/reading your newsletter for quite a time now (i really like it very much!) and have aways been impressed, how you follow through on posting/writing regularly!

So maybe i find a bit of a relief in the fact that even Adam does not always know how to stick to a routine :-)

But you are sticking to working it out. For me, you are kind of a prof researcher in doing this illuatration thing - and you let us particpate in your trials and findings. I think that's beautiful.

Thanks Susan, I do write for myself mostly, and it’s nice to have everyone along for the ride!

Posting my art regularly to Instagram is something I really struggle with. I’ve tried to batch create ahead of time but I find the inspiration just doesn’t strike or that it all looks the same. Any tips on creating ahead of time in batches in a way that you have variety? (Batch writing works for me with my writing but not my art!)

If anything I think the batch I made had too much variety! I do admire artist who can stick to a very specific scope, myself, I tend to like to try different things.

I focus on 3 things in my art, shape, texture and character... I get variety by adjusting the priority and focus of each element

Also I came up with many more ideas than I actually created, picking those ideas that really resonate help!

Let me know if you have follow up questions:)

Consistent social media is something I have a problem with. I know we’ve talked about it before, how I’m able to do a 100 day project, but once I stop, I don’t give myself enough permission to post rougher ideas or quick drawings. So, I love this Seven Little Things project. I’m interested to see how long I can stick with this one. I guess the important thing is that we keep showing up to try again and again until we find a system that works for us. Thanks for sharing your ideas! Also: How was the butter in coffee? I’ve also heard of this but never tried it before.

The coffee is surprisingly good, less harsh than the regular kind!

I’m going to try to throttle this, like if I have 10 minutes, I’ll spend 3 minutes on ideas and do 7 one minute drawings.

I know the daily eyeballs and connection make a difference! And yeah we just got to find something that works for us, maybe this is it!

I hope people come along for the ride, peer pressure can be a good thing!

I’m going to try this! I think setting a time limit for each is a great idea so it doesn’t become overwhelming. I’m working on my first picture book gig so I’m pushing hard to work on that in every spare moment...but I can’t post any of that! So I think this could help.

That has been such a struggle for me, and it’s really why I’m doing the 7 little things! Good luck with the book!
