I'll resist naming the Lord of the Rings series. Besides those, these are my 3 favourites of all time: The Neverending Story, Braveheart, Last of the Mohicans.
Even though it is a series, I thought Andor was top notch.
The second: The Wild Robot. Being an animation nerd (and wanna be animator) it has a story to match. Made this old(er) man tear up several times, which is not easy to do. 🙂
Finally, “Flow.” It is a crime that it has not been released on 4K yet. But it’s on Max. Without dialogue, your heart gets tugged in so many directions. Eye waterworks again for this one.
I echo Michael Brugh's recommendation for Wild Robot. Fantastic in every way. AND a lead female protagonist for a change. You asked for thematically-related films so my second is Pixar's A Bug's Life which I revisited recently and it's still great. Both have themes of characters (in nature) working together to protect their community against some baddies. Sorry don't have a third.
Ok, you got me one this one, movies are my zone - coming in hot with new category -how about the recent HIT MAN, the older ABOUT TIME (fabulous!) and CRAZY RICH ASIANS - all good and fun and just fun.

All Epic!
Nice choices, Adam.

It’s another singular animation triumph.
Love these choices, thanks!
Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Amelie. :)
Once, Whale Rider, Slumdog Millionaire (also Shtisel... a series, but so good.)
