I remember a guy once telling me how he had to sleep with his head on the bed side table most nights, because of the amount of space his kid took up in the bed.

A lovely letter Adam - i really enjoyed the read! Our little ones are the same age (my boy turns 3 in May) and we are also very much at the bed sharing no-space stage! Your illustration made me laugh, i’ve nearly rolled off the bed too many times!

To be honest, I’m looking forward to spring to really arrive so I can start to draw outdoors more. Plan I have had for a few years but never started.

"Daddy, I need more space!" - Yeah, it's never enough. I fully relate and my sympathies go out to you. Until they have absolutely everything, they'll keep needing more. 😆

Lovely letter, thank you. I can still remember the kid in the bed thing, even though it's been a while (ours are now almost 18 and almost 15), so empathy on that. I hadn't thought about it being a new quarter, but I am going to to use that to do some assessment and refocusing. I am finally looking at a more manageable workload (in the 'other' business) which means I should have some time to dig down and get proactive with finishing my website update, creating some portfolio pieces to fill the gaps and sending out some targeted emails. With the aim of booking in some big illustration projects from the autumn and maybe one or two smaller ones before then.

I don’t have a little one in the house any more, except for the little dog who sleeps on my bed and occasionally wakes me up with her need for more space. It’s my husband’s fault for spoiling her.

I’m looking forward to filling my sketchbook and to a book launch next month. And hopefully some intentional time to relax and unwind once that’s over.

Nice newsletter! Keep it up! Thank you (and thanks to your little one for kicking you out of bed!) there’s something honest about sleep deprived missives.

I know this when one of the kids decide to hijack the bed. It was just last night my youngest rolled into bed and then I was wide awake, but I have a bad habit to read in the bed hidden under the covers to hide the Kindle light, and my book kept me even more awake! I need a reading room (how is yours?). Well, it seemed that you weren't going back to sleep either from the reading room, but at least you wrote! You created! As a big Murakami fan, thanks for reminding me about this running book of his, time for a reread!
