Choose Your Influences
The artist collects what they love, not hoard, there is a difference.
The artist is a collector.
Not a hoarder - there's a difference. Artists collect selectively. They only collect things they really love.
Here's how to do it:
For ten minutes. Fill two pages. (We call that a ‘spread’ in book speak)
Whatever catches your spark today.
This isn't about making more art. It's about choosing what influences you, instead of letting the world choose for you.
Where do these two pages go? It could be a sketchbook or a journal, but I recommend an Artist Book. Any A6 notebook would work nicely.
An Artist Book has no rules about what goes in it. No pressure about what it becomes. Just a space to collect what lights you up. What your attention is drawn to,
These pages won't just record your days. They'll shape them.
The world is fighting for your attention. This is how you fight back - gently, daily, ten minutes at a time.

Find a book. (Essay online if you must, but book is better.Any book, now search it for a single quote to write in your journal, sketchbook or Artist Book.
Practice filtering out what might not be for you right now, and a single phrase or word that really resonates for any reason.

🟨 NOTE TO SELF: This world character has come up before, pay attention to it, there might be something there.1
PS: In January, the daily notes will only be available to paid subscribers, everyone will still get the weekly roundups. I want to build some momentum by being more open and vulnerable to the smaller audience, in my writing and my artist book. It’s a win for me and a win for anyone who wants to come along for the ride.
