Today’s Topic: “Get Current”
Do you have a system or routine to get current? What are some areas where you are doing a good job of staying current with your art career? What are some places that need updating?
Is it an artist headshot?
Links to social sites that are no longer active?
An outdated portfolio?
A newsletter?
How do you stay on track? How do you fall off track?
Art Career club is a safe space for aspiring artists and working professionals to discuss their best practices. Feel free to leave comment, introduce yourself, answer at least one of the topic questions, and leave links to your work.
I'm starting to take a look at my website every 5 weeks to make sure every thing is current. Before, I might not even look at my own website for the longest time. I removed a page that was no longer relevant and earmarked a few images to replace and a section to add. I'm also writing a new bio.
Just checking in with the website regularly, is a good way to help me 'Be Current'.
To get current I have to continue to build my portfolio and update my website. I think I need to block this time in my schedule and HONOR it to get this done. I often find something else that needs to get done that I deem more important. I'm trying to transition from one career to another and working both sides is challenging.
The first thing your new career needs is time. Make the time everyday for your new career to fill up, use it to build your portfolio, then later use the time to do the work… Good Luck!
