What to expect in 2025.
The Weekly Edition will remain FREE
In January, the Daily Edition will only be available to Paid Subscribers, I want to set the tone for the year by writing only for this small group, you see — I’m planning to write a book in public.
Well somewhat public…
I’m not thinking of publishing just yet, just writing.
366 Daily [Meditations], for lack of a better word, on building a Daily Personal Art Practice. I’ve written over 900 posts here on substack. In January my goal is to distil those posts into their essence, and somehow fit them into 31 Short Meditations each with their own prompts(of course)
Here’s what I think the process will look like.
Read my 900 posts to gather the insights I had in my first 3 years of transitioning into becoming a children’s illustrator. 1 I’ll be filtering it through the lens of the personal art practice because I feel that’s just as important if:
You’re a pro
You’re just starting out
You’re amature (doing it out of love)
I tried writing children’s books, but…
It’s more important for me to write about daily practice at the moment. Maybe once I’ve completed this assignment I’ll get to move on to children’s books. I’m more than happy to illustrate the books I’ve been getting.
And illustrating children’s books is very much a co-authoring process.
Why Now
I’m looking for Enrollment now, so I can spend January focused on my writing and illustration work. And as much as it will set the tone for my year, it can set the tone for yours too.
Enrollment
So here’s the thing can I enrol you to be in the inner circle to help this thing get made?
You can show your Encouragement $28 a year
Or give me your Full Support $100 a Year
Already a Subscriber, you can upgrade your support and become a Super Supporter, click and toggle to the appropriate section $250
By gathering insights I mean writing discrete ideas onto notecards.Sorting those notecards into 31 piles, and writing the meditations from there. There must be 31 good ideas in 900 posts! The rest of the year will be spent using the momentum from January, unpacking the ideas, researching and interviewing people
I’ll footnote the January post with a memoirist note about, the actual making of each meditation, what time of day it is what I’m feeling, how I found the time to write, how I chose the topic etc, sausage-making stuff.
