It's always inspiring to hear successful people share firsthand how they achieved their success. You may not have met Kobe Bryant, but you can still learn from his interviews and his book.
Jony Ive, the renowned Apple designer, once asked Kobe, "How do you prepare?"
Kobe replied, "You think sequentially. You look at the end result of what you want to create, but there are so many little things that go into this massive entity (Apple) or device. It's no different than building my basketball game. You start with where you want your game to be, where you want to make your game the most unstoppable or challenging to deal with, and you start building it one piece at a time, one move at a time, one counter at a time."
Keep this in mind when you plan your week.
Ask yourself, what are you building this decade, this year, this month, this week, today?
And then focus on today.
Kobe was building a skill stack that enabled him to be the best basketball player of his generation. Similarly, you can apply this mindset to your own goals and aspirations.
As an aspiring illustrator, see yourself as a "drawing-athlete" or an "expert-in-the-making," building your skills and expertise one piece at a time.
