📣 Side A: 100 Day Project Announcement and resource.
📋 Side B: I wrote a project brief for myself.
If you’re not subscribed, you can via the orange button (pick the free tier).
Side A is always short and sweet with a pay-off. A tip, or piece of motivation, or resource.
And during the project, side B will be a journal of the project. (You can always skip reading Side B if you’re pressed for time.
Side A:
I’m doing a #the100DayProject this year. Zoe Tucker, (Author, Art Director, Techer) said recently that “When you are on a job, the deadlines can be so tight, you just need to be to know who you are and execute confidently.”
Which means there’s little space for deliberate growth on the job.
Top footballers say, suffer in training, so you can enjoy yourself during the game. I think it’s the same for illustration. So the #100dayproject is my training. It’s my space to grow.
If you’re thinking of stating a project yourself, check out #the100dayprojectnewsletter
Side B :
Here’s the project brief I wrote for myself:
100 Days of Childhood
Create 26 Pieces of work based on words from your childhood.
Use this project to refine your process, follow the same steps to creating each piece.
Use this project to develop the following skills:
Workflow.
Style Consistency.
Use of ‘limited’ Color Palette.
Working under time constraints.
File Organization (Storage and accessibility).
Photoshop for final illustrations using iPad as a drawing tablet.
Exploring Subject Matter.
Documenting the process (Produce case studies).
Creating multiple formats of content based on the “Case Studies” - (IG Post, Twitter, Newsletter, FB Group, Tumblr, TikTok,Reels)
Identify weaknesses to work on or plan to work on.
Reward: After the project I’ll take a break from training.
This project is largely guided by Tom Froses’s The Style Class Illustration. Which is the most effective way I know of to develop your style. The main departure is instead of producing a piece every day, I will work every day, to produce a piece every four days.
This is great! I love this project but never actually manage to finish it. I think mine comes down to starting too much and not having a real direction which is something that I am setting myself this year.
