Note on the practice: Ten Minute Artist is about keeping an Artist Diary as a way to stay connected to our creativity in the present and through the years. To help you set up you diary I’ve created a FREE 5-day email course for you.
You can find Day 1, here.
Dear Artist Friend,
Today’s prompt was to write or draw something that made you smile.
When I pulled this prompt, I couldn’t actually recall something that made me smile yet. SO I thought I might do some things that might make me smile — which is a great use of a prompt like this.
So I called family, and went for a walk, and played with my kid.
But the thing that made me smile happened quite by accident and it was a silly thing, both me and my wife happened to go to our cupboards at the same time, reach our hand in and pull out a red t-shirt each.
And we both smiled at each other, and took a picture.
The red T-Shirt is funny because it’s Chinese New Year today, and red is culturally an auspicious colour. Although I’m learning that in other cultures, red is also associated with ‘success’.
Happy Chinese New Year
What made you smile today?
Write or draw something that made you smile, and if it hasn’t happend yet, go do some things that might make you smile then come back and draw it or write about it, I’m going to share mine in the chat.
Your Artist Friend,

Happy Chinese new year
Your email makes me smile
And then i think about my son and his face when he takes ice-cream
His face is full of happiness and energy and many positive things
Your post made me smile, thank you😂🤣😂
