I love this idea of a key as a visual concept.
How a small twist of a hand could unlock all manner of riches or danger! There are actions in our life that we could do… keys we could turn that unlock so much trapped potential.
I’ll give you an example, and I hope you can use this in some area of your life!
In recent times, I’ve been turning a key in this newsletter.
You see I get hundreds of new subscribers a week, but about a month ago so I was wondering why the ratio of paid subscribers was relatively low. People seem to appreciate what I write and they tell me and engage with the writing so what was keeping this door locked.
And yes I know, not everyone can subscribe to all the newsletters they like etc..
That accounts for the 97.5% of people who don’t upgrade. And that’s fine, I’m happy to serve with free content. My question was how can I increase the 2.5%
That was the locked door.
If I wanted more paid subscribers:
Do I need to remind subscribers what they get for a full subscription?
Do I need to give less away for free?
Is what I’m writing valuable enough?
Do I need more subscribers?
Do I need more marketing?
Where is the key I could turn, to unlock the result I’m looking for?
Maybe you don’t have a newsletter, maybe you have a business or a freelance service and you want more clients, or you want more time… what is the key that will unlock this for you?
To use another metaphor, where is the bottleneck in your process that if you could unlock, if you could make bigger, more results can flow. That’s the key.
The key is to find one number to double and spend ALL your efforts there.
So for me if 1000 new subscribers means 25 paid subcribers (2.5%) Should I double the number of new subscribers, or should I try to increase the 2.5%… both could work, but which would feel like a flick of a wrist?
If you wanted to double clients? Can you email twice as many potential clients?
Spend twice as much time on social media (yuck!, this is not the answer I don’t think)
Do you need to take on twice as many projects or double your price?
If you wanted to improve your skill do you need to double the time spent?
Or should you do 1 online course and finish it instead of 2, doubling your focus on one thing?
It’s not magic.
Once you pick the number to double, there will be a lot of work that goes into making it happen, the idea to identify the key is the strategy. Then you need to do the work.
I’ve got my conversion rate up from 2.5% to 3% in a month. If I can get that up to 5% in 4 months that would be amazing and a successful double. But I’m doing a lot of little things to make that happen.
I hope this idea, and it’s a very powerful one, will help you in whatever you are trying to achieve. The key is to find a bottle neck and double or halve that number. To double the number, focus on spending all your resource on things that could improve that number.
Use it to:
Be more productive
Meet your soulmate
Have more free time
Reach your goals in half the time
Help you focus on the right things
Does this make sense? What will you use it for?
TEN MINUTE ARTIST PROMPT
We’re drawing inspiration from ‘The Hobbit’, and have been doing so for 20 days out of a planned 26, today’s prompt is…
K - Key:
“There is one point that you haven’t noticed, and that is the secret entrance. You see that rune on the West side, and the hand pointing to it from the other runes?”
On Sunday, I’ll be sharing YOUR drawing of the prompts for this week.
I’m going to double the number of potential clients that I reach out to!
