You’re Reading Adam Ming’s Daily Blog, This month I’m writing a series about taking time for your creative practice. Each post, includes an invitation to spend ten minutes developing your creative practice.
I’m doing this in October to complement any Drawing challenge you might be doing. I will be doing the classic inktober.

I was up early.
When I got to the studio I noticed two small happy smiley sun faced stickers and two stamps on my hand. I remember that I was awarded these stickers for playing a board game with my 3 year old past her bedtime.
I smile thinking of this gesture.
Of the importance of accepting these tiny gestures and gifts from kids.
I remember that she did say that she would give me a sticker when we started playing, but kind of forgot during the game.
In a recent Illoguild Live (video Below)
Robin talks about the art class she does for adults, and the stickers she gets for it.
I wonder how powerful in might be if we gave ourselves stickers for hitting our creative goals, would they help us do better?
Maybe stickers create a sense of closure and accomplishment.
Maybe we should give ourselves stickers regardless and make up reasons for why we deserve them.
10 Minute Invitation
Design some stickers, just hand draw them, they can be rough. Try to make them specific.
“Good job for sleeping 8 hours”,
“Resident artist of ______”,
“Yay you did ________”.
Try to award yourself stickers as often as possible, maybe allocate a page in each sketchbook for these stickers and awards.

What follows is a recording from the last
live, a perk for paid subscribers. We discuss creative block and some of the things we’ve learnt this year.
