Steps

An established way to a predetermined peak.

Steps are a kind of path.

That lead upwards.

Or downwards.

Though when used in a Metaphoric sense it almost always means up.

Up always means particular. Each mountain top is separated from all others.

Steps toward a goal is a moving away from general into a particular.

Before you can take steps you must select a goal. A peak which you hope to get to.

Steps also imply an established way.

Steps imply incremental progress of increasing difficulty.

I took steps to get my dream job. I did not create the steps, I discovered them or uncovered them with the help of people who have traveled up and down the mountain.

Choose a peak. Find the travellers who have climbed higher that you have. Uncover the steps.

The first step is to choose a peak.
