The only way the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight would be interesting is if Mike Tyson won. I realised recently that nostalgia is great marketing. I also realise that nostalgia cannot be satisfied.
Any of us could have called this one.
What stopped us was nostalgia.
In putting together fights, Hollywood movies or kids books, nostalgia is an important ingredient. You need to appeal to the new generation, but you also need to appeal to the old.
It’s the reason ex-pros become sports pundits.
It’s the reason for movie remakes every 20 years.
And it’s the reason picturebooks need to appeal to both parents and kids.

I’ve never watched a boxing match before and kind of watched the Tyson one while I was sitting with my family . I thought it was quite boring and would’ve been better if Tyson had won. But we did watch the girls match after as my daughter had already watched it earlier and said it was good . And it was - so much better than the Tyson fight .
Anyway , nostalgia is a good thing to think about for picture books , I’ll definitely try and remember this .
Agreed, it would have been more interesting if Tyson had won. I was surprised how nostalgia influenced my desire to know about the win.
