Side A: Preperation.
There are several preparations to be made for the 100 day project. One of them is re-watch the beginning portion of Tom Froese’s 4 hour Style Class. As well as do the inspiration case study.
I took some notes for elements I could visually quote in my own work. And I went further to find a video of the artists work to learn the ‘secrets’ of making the work. I think one of the ideas I’ll be holding on to while doing my 100 Day Project, would be, “Illustrating under the influence of a handful of artist I admire”.
Side B: The flawed element
There is one element of my work, one flaw that is always pointed out to me, by Mentors, Publishing Directors, and teachers. But I never really got how to fix it. I was prescribed ‘Martin Haake’ as one who has solved this quirk in my work. And while love his work, it’s only from listening to his talk could I find the solution I was looking for.
I’m not going to tell you what the flaw in my work is or the solution. Not today anyway. But I wanted you to know that if you want to learn from an artist directly, sometimes all you need to do is google.
Martin Haake was also one of the illustrator I put on my list for this Tom Froese's classe! I admit I would have love to learn more about your flaw! People don't talk much about their flaws. But it's when we accept our flaws and we search for solutions against them that we really progress ;) ! Really really interesting topic.
