I rearranged the studio today.
It’s a small studio 60 Square feet.
The main improvement I made was to have my desk look out the window rather than face the wall. Then I built around that. And the single power point to the right of the desk.
It gets really sunny in the afternoon so much so that I have to close the curtains. I like the new layout though I’m still familiarising myself with it.
The other change is my surfaces are now in an L- formation rather than on opposite walls. They are still at four different heights which makes things interesting.
I swapped the location of my sketchbooks and traditional painting material, the goal being to make the painting material more easily accessible.
The room seems more spacious because the desk is more integrated with the window and because the available standing room is now more of a square than a rectangle.
I’m going to continue to improve the studio as much as I can. I believe it’s one way to improve the quality of the work I do, without actually doing any work.
The thing that sparked this whole thing was a question. What doesn’t belong in here. And as I moved a few items to more appropriate places… it snowballed!
