I have a shelf with 14 inspiring books that I’ve read in arms reach.
On days when I feel I need a power-up, I reach out and pick one of them and flip through them for inspiration. Two quotes stood out to me today that relate to each other!
SIDE A: KEEP GOING
This Gem is from the first Chapter of Austin Kleon’s “Keep Going”
“A schedule defends from chaos and whim”, writes Anna Dillard. “It’s a net for catching days.”
I love this idea of a net which kind of implies that a day is like a stream flowing by, or a stream we are flowing through, catching what we can. This makes us fishermen of sorts, and we get to decide what kind of thing we are fishing for and setting up our nets accordingly.
SIDE B: MASTERY
“Understand: it is the choice of where to direct his or her energy that makes the Master” - Robert Greene, Mastery
