This reminds me of a storytelling exercise I learned from my friend Chris Glynn. Draw a character and then ask what’s going on. Where did they come from? Why did they leave? Where are they going? What happens next?
It’s similar, but the main thing I’m contending with is the couture of the page and how that is affected by the image and the friction it creates, the free association comes second.
