‘Imperfectionism’ - a freeing and energising outlook based on the conviction that your limitations aren’t obstacles to a meaningful existence , which you must spend your days struggling to overcome, en route to some imaginary point when you’ll finally get to feel fulfilled
— Oliver Burkeman
Perfect outcomes would require a perfect environment. Perfect circumstance. And perfect alignment of all external forces.
How often do we get those.
Instead we get reality.
Reality is I have a few minutes to write a newsletter before I have to go out.
What are my choices?
I could bang something out with the available time and be content with the outcome, with the rep.
I could write a draft with the time that I have and come back to it when I can.
I could just moan about how I don’t have enough time to do anything, so I won’t start
The kind of choice you makes become a habit, and you get used to choosing that kind of action, perfection lead to the third choice. The other two are letting go of perfection and embracing the moment.
