A NOTE ON THE PRACTICE
Ten Minute Artist is your daily companion in building a sustainable creative practice one reflection, one prompt, one ten-minute session at a time. Whether you're just beginning, returning after years away, or making space for personal work, these prompts create a pocket of possibility in your busy life.
Your daily practice becomes a way to show up consistently, find your voice, and join a community of artists who share your commitment to daily ritual.
NEW! 5-Day Creative Challenges
I love writing these daily prompts, I love the cadence of it, and I love focusing on these bite sized ideas.
But there are some larger ideas I want to get across that don’t fit into these daily format, like when we did the Hero’s Journey series over 5 days. I’m looking to do a 5-day series like this each month.
Let’s call them Creative Sprints.
Without breaking the stride of our daily 10-minute practice, each month I’ll set aside 5 days for a Creative Sprint.
You’ll still get a reflection and a prompt, but these prompts will build on each other and tackle some of the key areas of struggle and aim towards some big or small breakthrough.
Taken together these 5-days will serve as a monthly creative challenge.
If you’re doing your Ten Minute practice regularly, this will serve as the boss level each month.
And if you’re just starting, or have fallen off, this will be a great jumping on point to start building some momentum.
Boss Level Creative Challenges
So what are some of the boss level creative challenges we face? I’ll go first.
As I’m about the start illustrating my 14th book after 15 months of chasing and falling behind on deadlines, I find myself welcoming a fresh start.
Up to this point my goal has been to meet the standards of the publishers I’ve gotten to work with. But for this next book my goals is to far exceed them, and not for them, but for myself. And that is my first boss level Creative Challenge. Raising Personal Standards.
Some other boss level creative challenges we can tackle are: Financial Sovereignty Time management, Portfolio Building, Finding Style, The 80/20 rule, which is a law that once you fully embrace will enable you to do a week’s work in a single day!
