Note on the practice: Ten Minute Artist is about keeping an Artist Diary as a way to stay connected to our creativity in the present and through the years. To help you set up you diary I’ve created a FREE 5-day email course for you.

You can find Day 1, here.

You are a very special person, there is only one like you in the whole world

- Mister Rogers

Dear Artist Friend,

You are a very special person. But unfortunately often that is hidden from other because you have to take that specialness and put it in words, and words have a sameness to them.

Today I want to remind you how to use imagination to access your specialness, and escape your word prison of sameness.

I think we forget to use imagination.

We don’t really forget how to use it, it’s an inane skill or endowment as humans. But just like we default to our phone whenever we feel any form of boredom or unease, we default to thinking in stead of imagining.

And here’s how that affects your originality.
