I'm taking a writing class again
it's called My Kids Book Pitch
My writing class starts this week.
It’s the second time I’m taking it.
The first time around I came up. with this wacky character, Vinny the Flytrap who believed he could eat anything. I never completed the whole story. But I had a beginning and an end, and some fun scenes.
I also illustrated the character.
This was a breakthrough on 2 levels.
I developed a new way of working to illustrate the character.
I. used the energy and humor of this character, as a reference for other characters I illustrated after this.
The words captured a spirit. And I would go on to make many pieces of work in that same spirit. So a lot of the work I created would not have been created if I had not first created it with words.
I hope to write my own stories one day. But I don’t have an urgency to do so. My main objective this second time around is to again create words to create pictures. Seeds of stories that I will leave to grow on their own.
