How to Draw a Snake

With simple steps and materials

Start with a shape

Pick 3 or for materials, for this 10 minute mini project.

I drew a snake but you could draw anything you want, if you want to just follow along… you can ofcourse draw a snake too!

These are the materials I used

Start with a big shape, I liked the snake because it was fun to think about how the shape would curl itself around the page.

Notice the 3 areas where the snake’s body overlapped itself… I do think about overlaps and try to keep them to a minimum as part of my style.

When fulling up the shape I tried to think about and suggest the texture of the scales

I then finish up with some detail, I used a reference for the face. I used a snake for the example, but these steps are the general way I try to draw anything, it’s economical do and hopefully fun to look at!
