I made a plan for the week on Sunday, fell ill on Monday, then took a couple of days off to recover. Here’s some advice for myself on how to deal with my pre-existing plan and the new shorter schedule.

  1. Find the top 10 most valuable chunks of work that can be completed in a given work session.

  2. Pick the one that will bring the most stress relief or satisfaction.

  3. Focus on getting that one thing done and ignore all the others.

  4. Repeat the process until you run out of work sessions.

  5. If needed; Manage expectations accordingly. (Often these are only your own former plans)

Work for the wins. Then celebrate them. Go to sleep smiling knowing what you accomplished, then start again tomorrow.
