Hello Ten Minute Artist,
I’ve been meaning to do a series on birds and nests for awhile now.
Partly because I’ve been approached to illustrate another book about birds, so this makes for a good warm up, and partly because I found this series of photos on the internet about the funny ways birds sometimes build their nests, funny to us at least.
So today’s….
TEN MINUTE ARTIST PROMPT
Bird nesting on statue.
Now use the reference as inspiration to create an icon or study it as an observational drawing that’s really up to you. You might even search up your own combinations of statues with birds nests on their head this is really for you.
Prompts are always just the starting point, it’s what you bring to it that makes it special.
Share your drawings here
& say something nice(and mean it) about each other’s :)
I didn’t plan this…
But last week-ish, a book I illustrated, with ‘stylish artwork’, about where animals make their homes was book of the day by BookTrust.
And the School Library Journal gave it this verdict:
“This is a must-buy for those looking to talk about diversity of animals and their homes in different biomes, some more common than others.”
You can buy from my link below. Doing so will support an indie bookseller and give me a small commission (pthe artwork on that page is the older cover, but you will get the one pictured here.)
This week I’ve prioritised a couple of things. Sleeping well (aiming to get in bed by 10) and being present with family in the moments where I am with them. Just going into the week with this intention has made a difference to me and to them! Another thing I’m doing differently is I’m blocking out white space in my calendar, mostly after dinner, a chunk with a couple of hours with nothing on in, forcing myself to get my work done earlier in the day.
So far it’s making for a good week!
How’s your week going so far?
PS: If you’re subscribed to Art Gym, remember to RSVP to join us live it’s on the 4th of June, and the subject is ‘Drawing Thumbnails’.
Congratulations!
Great news, Adam.
