Energy in a drawing
One of the things I aim to deliver in every illustration is Energy.
There are 2 ways that I know to get energy into a drawing.
You could use composition and design elements to move the eye around the page in particular way. I recommend: Chip Kidd’s book; GO as a fun way to learn about the elements and principles of design.
You could use the media expressively according to your emotions. This more intuitive approach actually requires you to be able to regulate your emotions.
Think ‘happy’ to make happy drawings. Think sad to make sad drawings. And so on. (This means if you’re grumpy about something, you’re very likely going to get a grumpy drawing.
