This week we’re going to draw ideas!
I’m using the recent Creative Community Digest’s themes as inspiration for the ideas we will draw.

I picked this topic because I was struggling to illustrate my own newsletter.
I didn’t think I would come up with a solution but I did. The idea was to simplify each idea into a shape. I already have a colour palette for the newsletter so between the shapes and the colours, the problem became solved quite easily.
You can try the approach I used, here are the steps.
Simplify the idea into objects. In this case I thought of drawing tools.
Pick a single object. I picked a pencil which can have quite an interesting combination of shapes in it
Draw that object as a simple shape
From there you can either chose to experiment with different shapes to represent an idea or fill the shape up with details.
Drawing ideas is one of the key roles of illustration, and the only way to really visualize ideas is to turn them into objects or symbols. So there you have it, Illustration demystified.
I‘ll share your sketches from last week, together with this weeks project in the next sketchbook project.
If you haven’t already, checkout the ‘Make Art Daily Starter Kit’.
PS: I wrote this project last week when I had extra energy, and ‘m really thankful because I’m pooped at the moment! Happy Drawing!
