02: Overcoming Resistance

"The most pernicious aspect of procrastination is that it can become a habit. We don't just put off our lives today; we put them off till our deathbed."- Steven Pressfield

Day 2: Overcoming Resistance

Yesterday, you took the first step in your creative journey by committing to take time for your practice. Today, we face our first major hurdle: Resistance. This invisible force tries to keep us from our creative work, manifesting as procrastination, self-doubt, or distraction. But don't worry—we have tools to overcome it.

Today's 10-Minute Invitation

Set your timer for 10 minutes. Begin by writing down any thoughts or feelings of resistance you're experiencing right now. Then, switch to your creative work. If you feel stuck, describe the resistance you're feeling. Keep your pen moving or your hands creating for the full ten minutes, no matter what.

Know The Enemy

Resistance is the primary obstacle between you and your creative practice. It's that voice telling you to check your email one more time before starting, or that feeling of dread when you think about facing the blank page. By learning to recognize and overcome resistance, you're not just improving your creative output—you're building resilience and strengthening your creative muscles.

Each time you push through resistance, you reinforce your identity as a creator. This compounds over time, making it easier to show up day after day.
