We’re continuing our series of drawing Sports poses from reference, remember, we are not copying the image we’re using it to help us create something that’s our own. In yesterday’s email, I shared 2 ways to illustrators use reference images and while the sound simple, if you try them you will really see the variety of results they produce. my favourite is the second method.
Speaking of yesterday’s email, some of you asked if there’s a replay to the workshop we did about the 3 Rules of dynamic poses!
Yes, however you need to be subscribed to Art Gym to access it.
And yes you can still subscribe now to grab the replay.
I’ll just say, that these 3 rules will save you years of practice because there are shortcuts built into the rules that will help you draw poses like these with that life and energy that is in such high demand.
TEN MINUTE ARTIST PROMPT
Draw the pose in the reference image above, but…
Make it your own, pose one of your own characters, or a famous fairy tale, I think it would be fun to do a hippo or some other animal, be creative!
One piece of advice i got from a Publishing Director was, if you’re good at drawing two things, try to draw them together. I think I’m good at drawing animals and energetic poses, so that’s what I’ll try here!
Share you sports pose drawing in the gallery:
I will share some of your drawings with 8000 readers, including Creative Directors and other Publishing People in my Sunday Share email, with that in mind captioned each piece with a bit of context, imagine, it’s in a gallery exhibition and you’re writing the little card that goes next to the art.
PS: If you find yourself unmotivated to create more regularly, this FREE post and worksheet will give you something better than motivation, it will give you drive - unlock your drive!
