Fly on the Wall
For the past month I’ve been writing a blog ‘quietly’.
Heres what I love about it:
I love the forcing function of knowing everyday I need to write something.
I love exploring discrete ideas and building up this library of ideas.
I love how is serves as a staging area for the newsletter.
The blog is my Unpolished Thoughts and Ugly Work. It’s the artist at work, the mountain of paperballs next to the wastepaper basket. It’s being a fly on the wall in my studio and in my head
Blogging on Substack
I write the blog on Substack, as a section of the Ten Minute Artist Newsletter that you have to subscribe to separately because:
I want it to be for a smaller subset of readers.
I don’t want to take up space in your inbox daily unless that’s what you really want.
If you want to get this in your inbox, you must first be a subscriber of Ten Minute Artist, then toggle the Daily Blog on. (DO this again if you’ve already done it, I made some changes in the settings)
Or you can just bookmark this section page and check in anytime.
New Series: 30 Invitations to show up for yourself daily
I’m taking a break for the last week of September.
I wish this was because I’m taking a holiday alas it’s to focus on deadlines, the last bits of a couple of books. And also because I want to relaunch the blog in October.
October is a month of drawing challenges thanks to Inktober and all it’s spinoffs. The blog for the month is going to be a complement to that as I do a series of invitations to deepen the daily habit of showing up for yourself.
Each day ends with an invitation to a different 10 Minute exercise you can do to develop your daily creative habit and overcome resistance.
If you want to get this toggle the Daily Blog on. (If you’re currently a paid subscriber I’ll be toggling it on for you manually in October.)
Drawing Prompts for the Rest on the month.
While I’m ‘away’, if you need something to draw, here’s what’s on my list…
Jungle Gym
Domestic Animals
Animals in Costume
Hoodie Kid
Kaiju (Giant Monster)
Specific Monkey
The letter ‘H’
Draw a Kids Art Table
Draw a Kids Handbag
Draw a Moms Handbag
In October, instead of specific Drawing Prompts I’ll be sharing prompts to deepen the habit of showing up for yourself, and we’ll be going back to drawing prompts in the blog in November.
