An Unexpected Party

Today’s Prompt: U-Unexpected
TEN MINUTE ARTIST PROMPT

U- Unexpected

“An Unexpected Party” is the name of the first chapter in the hobbit and I think it is a play on words on a celebration and the formation of a party!

I represented this with this marker drawing of the first dwarf to arrive. You and interpret the prompt any way you like!

Share your own drawings in the chat! We love seeing it!

Here’s a few from yesterday!

Note on the practice (and this series)

Every day I write a drawing prompt and meditation or open letter. The prompts are meant to be done in 10 minutes, the goal is to build a daily practice in as little as 10 minutes a day.

Some do this for the pure joy of it. Others do it to bring more creative joy into their existing cpractice. Some are starting the journey, others have drawn over 500 pages, 10 minutes at a time!

Currently we’re working through a set of 26 prompts, inspired by the children’s classic, ‘The Hobbit’, you can take a look at all the prompts in advance, but we’ll be working on them in a particular order here.

Ten Minute Artist: Daily Creative Joy is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

(For an extra $1, you can upgrade stright to Studio Founder (from annual plan), where you will get a monthly Check-In Email, plus a behind the scenes of this newsletter and my creative career, in addition to all the things)

Speaking of Party

In a separate chat I started a conversation about your current struggles and frustrations, I also shared mine. The conversation went in all directions and tangents, and I’m going to jump in there to reply to some of your comments.

If you haven’t already, we would love to hear from you! We’re all on this journey together! And we’re not going there to have a pity party rather explore paths to moving forward.

Have your say, as it impacts the kind of things I write about and do in the future, join the chat here! 💬

PS: If you want to get some fine gear and special items for your journey, my mom has the most excellent stationery shop. 👀
