This week in the daily edition, we covered:
Five Ways to Fit Art into Your Daily Routine
Realize that anything can be art. Taking inspiration from Warhol's liberating claim that "art is anything you can get away with," we can approach creativity like children who naturally transform ordinary moments into magical ones. Whether snapping a photo, arranging objects into temporary sculptures, or moving to an internal rhythm, art becomes less about formality and more about sneaking creativity into life's quiet spaces.
Use a pocket sketchbook: While luxurious sketchbooks tempt us from art store shelves, creative freedom often begins with something that fits in your pocket, ready whenever inspiration strikes.
Hack your brain into maintaining creative habits: anchor your art practice to existing routines and spaces. Whether meeting a friend at a café every Tuesday to draw, transforming a gaming nook into a dedicated art space, or linking creative time to your child's activities, your brain responds powerfully to these environmental and temporal cues, making the creative practice feel as natural as your morning coffee.
Use in between moments. In the quiet spaces between tasks, where we habitually reach for our phones, lies the perfect opportunity for art. Rather than viewing these lulls as "crappy moments," we can see them as invitations to create!
Change your identity. When you start calling yourself a "Ten Minute Artist," the shift in identity frees you from the pressure of finding perfect conditions or vast stretches of time - you become someone who naturally creates in small, focused bursts. Identity shapes habits!
