0009: Free Play
Applying this childhood concept to come into the possession of ideas.
Through a play of words coming into the possession of ideas can have 2 meanings.
You get an idea
An idea gets you
Whatever the case, we are playing with ideas.
This morning i gave myself a time and space to play and draw whatever I wanted or might find enjoyable. I used interest and pleasure and curiosity to lead me into a time of playful discovery.
Did I discover anything useful, maybe, but I did produce a drawing, a document of that play time. And I believe that by continuing to have this playtime, I will be adding pages to my collection and these pages will serve me well.
I realise that having some magazines or coffee table books to flip through might be a good idea. Because they offer you options to see where your attention is drawn.
For example I was drawn to this fisherman, Maybe we can fish for ideas.
I was drawn this crow on the head of a statue, maybe representing inspiration.
As I did this I also worked out various themes from my subconscious that I might not be able to articulate now, but I have a line to keep pulling at.
I’m trying to make Freeplay, step one in my morning routine.
