Hello Dear Readers,
I’m writing from bed today, my upper back hurts either from too much drawing, or lugging books and art materials (and a baby) around.
I did make it to the studio first thing in the morning, and I found myself wanting someone to tell me to rest my back.
Then I remembered this line: “Treat yourself as you would treat someone you really care about.” I though if someone I loved had a hurting back, I would ask them to spend the day in bed.
So I’m prescribing the same treatment to myself.
Side B:
In other news: I’m updating one of my goals for the year.
At the start of the year I set a goal of making this Newsletter or some portion of it paid. That was the goal!
But now I’ve decided that the work involved in making that happen, is not something I want to invest my time in this year.
And I’m not talking about writing, I love writing and it actually energizes me. So I will continue to do that daily.
The work that I’m not willing to do this year is:
Figuring out what you would want to pay for.
Designing a plan to deliver that on a consistent basis
Finding enough people like you who would be interested to pay for it, and getting them to sign up.
What I plan to continue doing is; pursue this adventure of becoming / being an illustrator, and sharing my notes from the journey. And doing that as my gift to you for the incredible privilege of being able to do this for a living.
TLDR: I’ll continue to write this newsletter and no longer have any plans to charge for it. And in future if we can figure out something I can make for you that you’d like to pay for, we could do that as a separate project.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for making writing this something Inlook forward to every day!
